    • Isn’t it that it is not possible for anyone to fathom Your greatness?
    • I am unable to find anyone who proximates even Your shadow.
    • What shall I say? Is it possible for me even to extol You?
    • In this Earth, will I have Your grace and will my fears go away?

O Moon (ambO-ruha) faced (AnanA)! Without disregarding (aDa calupaga) me (nannu) (nannaDa), relieving (dIrci) (dIrcinambO-ruhAnanA) my (nA) worries (vicAramu), please look (jUci) at me gracefully (divya-tara) with Your pleasing (prasanna) face (mukhamu).
In this World, I truly trusted You alone as my refuge.

Isn’t it (gadA) that it is not possible (Sakyamu gAdu) for anyone (evarE) to fathom (nidAnimpa) (literally evaluate) Your (nI) greatness (mahAtmyamu)? O SrI mAtA (mAtavE)! I am unable (galanE) to find (gAnca) (literally behold) anyone (okani) who proximates even Your (nI) shadow (chAyEtula) (chAyEtulanokani).
O dEvI! What (Emani) shall I say (ceppudu)? Is it possible (vaSamA) for me (nAdu) even to extol (nutimpa) You? In this (I) Earth (mahilO), will I have (galgi) Your (nI) grace (daya) and will my (nA) fears (bhayambu) go away (toligEnO)?
In this World, I truly trusted You alone as my refuge.

4 – SrI mAtA – The very first name in lalitA sahasra nAma.

Comments
1 - nannaDa calupaga – This is how it is given in all books. The meaning derived is ‘converse with me’. However, the present form does not convey any such meaning. In the present form, the word would be split as ‘nannu aDa calupaga’. But, there does not seem to be any such word as ‘aDa’, the meaning of which would fit in here. In my opinion, this should be ‘kannaDa calupaga’; then, the meaning would be ‘without disregarding’.

2 – ambO-ruhAnana – This is how it is given in all books and the meaning derived is ‘lotus faced’. There are two similar words in Sanskrit to mean ‘water’ – ‘ambu’ and ‘ambhas’. However, the telugu word for water is ‘ambuvu’. Therefore, it should either be ‘ambhO-ruha’ or ‘ambu-ruha’ and not ‘ambO-ruha’ as given.

2 – ambO-ruhAnana – In the books, this has been translated as ‘lotus faced’. In my opinion, here ‘ambO-ruha’ means ‘moon’ and not ‘lotus’, because, face is normally compared to ‘moon’ and ‘lotus’.

3 – prasanna mukhamu – pleasing face - The form of the word ‘mukhamu’ is not appropriate to derive a suitable meaning. In my opinion, this should be ‘mukhamutO’ (with pleasing face).

4 – SrI mAtavE – the form of this word is not very clear. It has, however, been translated as ‘O SrI mAtA’.

5 – chAyEtula – who proximates even shadow – This Sanskrit-Telugu combination is not very clear. However, the word has been translated based on the meaning given in the books.

6 – nI daya galgi nA bhayambu toligEnO – this is how it is given in all books. However, the meaning derived is ‘will fears vanish without Your grace?’ In the given form, it means ‘my fears did not vanish even with Your grace’. As such a meaning is not appropriate, the meaning given in books has been taken as correct. But, for such a meaning, it should be ‘tolagunO’ (not ‘toligEnO’).

The wordings of anupallavi do not complete the sense. Neither anupallavi can be connected to pallavi.

It is surprising that there are so many errors in such a small kRti. This kRti has either become very corrupted or it is doubtful whether SyAmA SAstri has indeed composed it.
