ReplyDeleteDear Sathya,
ReplyDeleteI do not find this kRti in any of the books referred by me. Though I have an audio of this kRti sung by Maharajapuram Santhanam. I have posted a query in www.rasikas.org in this regard. Please look up there for response.
V Govindan
Dear Sathya,

ennEramum un nAmam uraippadE en nEmam ----it says here rAgam iss pantuvarALi. Isn't it pUrvikalyANi?
ReplyDeleteThe rAga as given in the books is 'pUrvi kalyANi'. It is correctly given in the kRti. However, the error has crept into the Alphabetical list only. I have since corrected it.
DeleteThanks for pointing out the error.
V Govindan
Indeed great contribution for Music lovers to follow Shyama Sastri's kritis with Lyrics
ReplyDeleteI am told that the kriti `Nee paada mulE gati eni nammiti' is a syama sastry one. But i don't find it here!?
ReplyDeleteSir,
DeleteOne kRti I left out as, from the wordings, I was convinced that it was not composed to Sastry. However, I do not remember which kRti. I am out of station. I shall respond by first week of Sep 2015.
Best wishes,
V Govindan
Sir,
DeleteThe kRti 'nI pAdamulE gatiyani nammiti' is that of Patnam Subramanya Iyer. Please refer to the lyrics here - http://www.karnatik.com/c1468.shtml

Dear Sri Govindan

Dear Sri Govindan
ReplyDeleteAfter I posted my comments I came across this.
Re: Subbaraya Shastry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTXiaRGvOUI nannu brOchutaku by DKP/DKJ misattributed to shyAmA sAstri
Interestingly they sing a charanam that is not available here @ http://www.sangeetasudha.org/othercomposers2/g11.html
PS: It is fun searching and hopping in the www. Started listening to Emani nE of Brinda Mukta duo, search for lyrics and that leads to DKP/DKJ singing a not oft heard thOdi song. Majestic. I think that Subbaraya Sastri uniquely brings majestic music out all the while pleading through the lyrics.

A friend has written:
I came across a song sri bahulamati played on the Vina artist Ranganayaki Rajagopalan.
The raga is Arabhi and the announcer mentions Shyama Shastri as the composer. I am not able to find it in any of Shyama Shastri’s compositions books.
Can you please help to identify the composition
Thank you again
